Conference for Young Farmers attracts one of our own

Seth Shaffer, son of Ron and Cynthia Shaffer of Cleveland, Tennessee, is headed to the 2015 Young Farmers Conference in December. At 23, Shaffer has completed a Master's degree from Green Mountain College, teaches a class on Sustainable Agriculture at Southern Adventist University, helps run his family’s 24.5 acre organic farm, and is an avid, freelance photographer (you probably have seen hundreds of his photos in TasteBuds and in this very blog!). An emphatic learner, Shaffer is looking forward to the opportunity to glean knowledge and skills during the 3 day excursion. “The Young Farmers Conference is basically a way for young and new farmers to get together and learn from the best minds in the business,” Shaffer says. “I’m completely amazed that I got accepted. I’m thoroughly looking forward to it and I’m going to learn as much as I can.”
