Located in scenic Sale Creek, TN, Crider's Creek Farm produces fresh farm eggs for local consumption. Originally started as a fun hobby for their elementary-aged sons, the Crider's raise Golden Comet hens from mail order chicks to produce their golden brown eggs with firm bright yellow yolks. The hens are housed in a large outdoor enclosure with a roomy indoor coop accessible for laying eggs, roosting and escaping the harsh elements. The hens are able to forage for food, take dust baths and lay eggs in a natural environment. Located right next to the Crider's organic garden, the hens benefit from freshly harvested surplus vegetables and weeds on a regular basis. During the winter months, cold hardy veggies such as kale and mustard greens are grown exclusively for the hens' enjoyment. The hens are fed all natural grain and scratch products with no growth hormones, pesticides or animal by-products. The eggs are hand-gathered, washed and dried. The Crider's sell eggs at St. Alban's Farmer's Market,Hixson.
